The Department of Energy and Biotechnology aims to cultivate professionals in the fields of eco-friendly energy and bio-applied chemistry . It provides a systematic curriculum that fosters everything from basic chemical knowledge to practical capabilities required in industrial settings , and fosters creative and convergent talents who will lead innovation in the chemical industry .
Educational Objectives: To foster leaders in convergence chemical engineering who lead education and research in the new energy and smart bio industries
Our department conducts research and education focusing on core areas of the future chemical industry, such as sustainable energy technology , smart bio new industry , and eco-friendly chemical processes . Through education that combines chemistry , life science , and engineering, we produce experts with problem-solving skills and foster creative and innovative thinking to respond to the changing industrial environment .

In this department, we conduct in-depth research on convergence chemical engineering focusing on four promising new industries . In particular , we conduct specialized research with global competitiveness by setting the in-depth research fields for each new industry as ‘ Energy and Environment Specialization Research ’ and ‘ Smart Bio Specialization Research ’ .
Energy nanomaterials and materials : Development of functional nanoporous materials , synthesis and application of nanoparticle metal oxides , quantum dot solar cells , water-splitting photoelectrodes , fuel cell catalysts and energy storage materials , synthesis of bioactive inorganic compounds , molecule-based porous solid materials , separation and storage of industrial gases , nanostructured semiconductors , development and application of quantum dot solar cell materials , development of fuel cell catalysts and energy storage materials , design of new materials using computational materials science
Bio-nano fusion technology : nano-bio optical sensor , biosensor , lab-on-a-chip , fabrication and application of CNT transparent electrode , flexible display , electrochemical chemical sensor , electronic nose system , chemical reaction kinetics , nano-interface structure control , biomolecule self-association , microfluidics , nano drug delivery system , biosurfactant , high-order hydrogel structure , biomaterial chemistry
