Nano & Bio Sensor LAB

Nano & Bio sensor Lab performs research on the development of highly sensitive(bio)sensors / biochips with nanomaterials(carbon nanotubes and nanoparticles). The developed(bio)sensors / biochips can be utilized in various fields, including medical diagnostic systems and environmental measurements. We also conduct research on nanowires based-flexible, transparent electrochemical biochips.

Functional BioNano Materials(FBNM) LAB

Functional BioNano Materials(FBNM) Laboratory focuses on developing a new class of functional bionano materials by artificial protein engineering and biomaterials engineering for biomedical applications. We have been working on basic research about structure-property-function relationship of the bionano materials as well as their biomedical applications, specifically Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine, Drug and Gene Delivery System, Bioimaging, and Biosensing.

BioNano-Chemistry LAB (BNCL)

Our main focus is on the development of novel tools to give solutions for a variety of issues related to biological science. Rational molecular design and organic synthetic skills are essential in these efforts. Specifically, we are interested in the preparation of novel amphipathic agents for membrane protein structural study and design of micelle-based catalysts for green-chemistry. Small non-natural peptides with strong binding affinity to DNA are also targets of our ongoing projects aiming at cancer treatment and/or antimicrobial therapy.

We aim to specify and solve critical problems in Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Modern Biotechnology through technological convergence of science and engineering tools. The primary interests of our group are i)early stage diagnosis of diseases such as lung cancer and colon cancer, ii)fast and reliable screening of drugs through technological innovation, and iii)system development and application for personalized medicine.

Bioprocess & Biorecognition Engineering Lab

HYU BPRL(Protein based,Industry-inspired,Application-oriented,(Biochemical) Engineering Principles)

In Bioprocess Engineering, we aim to maximize the biofunctionalities of high-value, medical biologics such as antibodies, peptides, and proteins, by using bioconjugation techniques. We can contribute to the development of innovative biopharmaceutics for biobetters and ADCs (antibody-drug conjugate). In Biorecognition Engineering, we attempt to analyze and utilize the interactions between biologics and biomaterials and non-living materials. On example would be to develop surface-modified nanoplexes such as proteoliposomes for targeted delivery in-vivo.
